If you have an android-operated phone and a prepaid number, then the new feature that Facebook has rolled out is just for you.
This new addition on the Facebook app allows users to top up their prepaid mobile connections straight from the app itself using either a credit or debit card. It comes right on the heels of the ‘Request Money’ addition made to WhatsApp (which is owned by Facebook) that allows users (only those using the Android beta version of the app) to, as the name suggests, request money from their contacts.
To utilise this new feature make sure you have the latest version of the Facebook app and then choose the ‘Mobile Recharge’ option (or ‘Mobile Top-Up’ on some versions) from the main menu.
Clicking this will take you to a welcome screen that has a ‘Recharge Now’ button, which asks you to feed in your mobile number and choose your preferred pack.
The payment can then be made through credit and debit cards (currently, those are the only options).
These features all seem to tie in nicely with the fact that digital payment platforms in India have been seeing a significant growth and it would make sense for Facebook to hone in on it.
